BICYCLE CITY LIGHT BLUES

Standing up on Castle Hill with The World beneath my feet,
Below lies the city of jumbled grey,where my past and future meet...
In this city they can measure to the n'th degree,
They can tear any atom apart;
Where they've sung every song in The Universe...
But no-one knows....my heart....

Bicycle City, can I call you my home?
In my heart, I hope you're hiding good news...
I know The World thinks it's brighter out there...
But I've got....The Bicycle City Light Blues

Never found a place where I belonged...went followin' a wanderin' star...
Then I heard, pretty city, that you take folk in, however strange they are.
I'm the centre of a sky that's standing still,
It's me that's spinning round;
I'm a stone that's rolling down the hill....
A cri-de-coeur...no sound....

Bicycle City, can I call you my home?.......

If I could see a picture of the puzzle of Life, why, maybe, then I'd win...
But the pieces of the jigsaw keep on changing shape when my fingers try to fit them in...
I'm the silence of the river as it floats in the dark,
I'm the first leaf blown on the breeze;
I'm a hint of the future and a shadow of the past....
I'm a soul...no-one sees....

Bicycle City can I call you my home?.....

THE CAMBRIDGE BOATER

I took the road to Cambridge City - Looked for work to earn my pay -
Found me a job upon the river, Punting tourists all the day...
'Twas then I saw my long-haired lady - How my heart then missed a beat...
I fell in love with the long-haired lady, On the bridge of Silver Street...

They gave me a pole, white suit with waistcoat, Old straw hat of fashion quaint -
I tout all day for paying custom, Curse the days of empty rain...
Day-in-Day-out 'neath cold, stone bridges, See the same sights o'er again....
Then I dream of my long-haired lady - Love's sweet thoughts relieve my brain...

Boating slow on this green river, I tell tales of gentle lies -
'Neath Mordlin Bridge so dark and danky - Spinning yarns o' The Bridge of Sighs...
My skin's as tough as pigskin leather - Arms as strong as dynamite...
Shoulders ache, hands hard and calloused - Two-webbed feet...I tell you right....!

One day, perhaps, my long-haired lady will come and ask to hire me -
I'll use the charms of a Cambridge Boater, Make her fall in love with me...
We'll push the boat right on down the river, Where city turns to fair country...
And in my arms I'll surely roll her...In my fine little boat we'll drift freely....

LIVE AND LET LIVE

I know a little corner in Cambridge City, And you'll find it just off Mill Road...The Best Pub in The Land!
They welcome you with open arms, a smile upon each face; So buy yourself a drink, my friend,  toast 'The Human Race!'
Live And Let Live, I say!  Live And Let Live!  Live!  Let Live!  Let Live!  O-oh! Let Live!

Who knows who you'll meet there while standing at the bar! Professor, Policeman, Layabout, or Me with my guitar!
We'll welcome you with open arms, a smile upon our face; So buy us all a drink, my friend, toast 'The Human Race!'

Maybe you'll meet philosophers of the wisest bar-room kind; Politicians, Lawyers, Diplomats, who like to voice their mind!
They'll welcome you with open arms, a smile upon their face; So buy them all a drink, my friend, toast 'The Human Race!'

Some men live for horse, and some for barley wine; Some men live a sober life, but I think mine is fine!
I welcome you with open arms, a smile upon my face; Now buy me one more drink, my friend, toast 'The Human Race!'

Now some believe in Holy Words, while others think that's Mad! It's how they treat each other shows if they're good or bad!
On Earth, some seek for meaning there, while some reach for The Stars...
But no Man lives for ever.....So... Bottoms Up and Cheers!
Live And Let Live, I say!  Live And Let Live! Live! Let Live! Let Live! O-oh! Let Live!!!
