Here is an MP3 of LITTLEPORT ANTHEM, a new tune to a traditional Littleport poem. Feel free to download this MP3 for your own use, we only ask that if you share it or use it anywhere please credit the composer - John Rees of Hobson's Voice Thank You The words of LITTLEPORT ANTHEM were written maybe a century ago by Elizabeth Fleming. Generations of Littleportians have learned it by heart....and so, we found out, has Mike Petty, Cambridgeshire Historian ExtraOrdinaire who kindly mentored us in the past. We were asked to create a tune for this icon of Fenland..... and we're very pleased to say that the members of The Littleport Society received it with approval when Linda and Mike performed it for them... a very memorable gig moment. Along with Littleport Lullaby, you'll find it on our cd : OVER IN EAST ANGLIA contact john.rees3@btinternet.com for a copy ................................................................................................. Radio Cambridgeshire interview Erica and John were interviewed recently on the Breakfast Time Show by Thordis. As well as playing a mini-selection of bits of songs, she wanted to know how we viewed Cambridgeshire, and why did we write songs about our county. .................................................................... Meeting James Palmer, The Mayor of Cambridgeshire The Mayor thoughtfully invited John to tell him about our writing and performing songs about Cambridgeshire events and people. I understand he would be happy to help us find ways of sharing these pieces of local culture and heritage .... both inside and beyond our rapidly-developing county.... .................................................................... CHOIRS AND OTHER SINGERS a number of choirs and other singers have used or are planning to use some of our songs in their repertoire....ANYONE INTERESTED - PLEASE CONTACT - john.rees3@btinternet.com .................................................................... SCHOOLS and STUDENTS a number of schools, teachers and students in higher education, too, have used some of our songs and tunes in a variety of musical, literary, history and geography projects. Anyone interested in so doing...you are welcome to contact me for help/advice... john.rees3@btinternet.com |
